In response, the President expressed the need for a “pause,” a term later clarified by the White House.
Drawing connections to past decisions, Cruz blasted the Biden administration for funneling hundreds of millions to Hamas, which he claims resulted in the death of numerous Israelis and Americans.
Furthermore, Cruz flagged concerns over Biden’s alleged pressure on Israel to send more fuel to Gaza, suggesting it would empower Hamas.
The Biden administration has been walking a linguistic tightrope, trying to differentiate “pause” from “cease-fire,” even as both point to a halt in military operations.
This comes amidst Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s resolve to continue operations until Hamas’s influence is negated.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry echoed similar sentiments, openly opposing a cease-fire.
