Here’s The Scoop

In a decision that’s sending shockwaves through the political landscape, the Colorado Supreme Court has made the unprecedented move of disqualifying former President Donald Trump from appearing on the state’s ballots in 2024.

This ruling, grounded in the 14th Amendment due to Trump’s alleged role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, has opened a Pandora’s box of legal and constitutional debates.

The court, in a 4-3 decision, stated, “We do not reach these conclusions lightly,” acknowledging the gravity of their ruling amidst a politically charged atmosphere.

Trump, in response, didn’t directly address the Colorado ruling but condemned what he perceives as a broader scheme against him.

“Joe Biden is a threat to democracy,” Trump said, accusing the administration of “weaponizing law enforcement for high-level election interference.”

Trump Campaign Spokesman Steven Cheung strongly criticized the ruling, saying, “Unsurprisingly, the all-Democrat appointed Colorado Supreme Court has ruled against President Trump, supporting a Soros-funded, left-wing group’s scheme to interfere in an election on behalf of Crooked Joe Biden by removing President Trump’s name from the ballot and eliminating the rights of Colorado voters to vote for the candidate of their choice.”

Cheung vowed a swift appeal to the United States Supreme Court.

This ruling is not isolated. Similar disqualification lawsuits are pending in 13 states, including Texas, Nevada, and Wisconsin, raising questions about the role of the judiciary in the electoral process and the interpretation of the 14th Amendment.
