Here’s The Scoop
As the political landscape heats up with the approach of the 2024 presidential election, a new Reuters/IPSOS poll sheds light on a crucial question facing the Republican electorate: Would they still vote for Donald Trump if he were convicted of a felony?
The poll’s findings reveal a significant shift in sentiment among Republicans, with only 31% now saying they wouldn’t support Trump under such circumstances, compared to nearly half in a previous poll.
This staunch loyalty comes despite Trump currently facing 91 charges across four criminal cases, including federal and Georgia election interference cases, the Mar-A-Lago classified documents case, and the Stormy Daniels case.
Interestingly, the unwavering support seems to stem from a deep-rooted skepticism within the Republican base, as fewer than a quarter actually believe the accusations against Trump.
Meanwhile, Trump’s potential run for the presidency remains a contentious and closely watched race. Morning Consult’s latest poll indicates a neck-and-neck battle, with Trump garnering 43% of the vote against Biden’s 41%.
This scenario unfolds amidst growing disillusionment with Biden’s policies among key demographics that secured his 2020 victory, notably his stance on the Israel-Gaza conflict and border policies.
