Here’s the Scoop
In the face of conventional norms, Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran has shared her rather unconventional secret to maintaining a vibrant 35-year marriage with her husband Bill Higgins. The couple’s secret? Sleeping in separate bedrooms.
The 75-year-old real estate tycoon opened up on a recent episode of Today, revealing that the couple has maintained separate bedrooms for approximately four decades. This separation, however, is not born out of discord but, rather, it’s a conscious choice that adds an element of intrigue and “sexiness” to their relationship.
Their unique nighttime routine caters to their different sleeping habits and tidiness levels. Corcoran, a self-proclaimed neat-freak, relishes the peace that comes from not having to deal with her husband’s clutter. “Now I sleep like a baby,” she quipped.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Corcoran has given fans a glimpse into her bedroom affairs. Last September, she humorously revealed she was adding a CPAP machine mask to her bedtime routine. CPAP devices, which aid in treating sleep apnea and other breathing issues, are often associated with obesity, but Corcoran’s post emphasized that even “normal, healthy” people can suffer from sleep apnea.
In these instances, it appears that Corcoran is not only pushing the boundaries of traditional marital norms but also challenging the stigmas associated with medical equipment usage. It’s a refreshing perspective and perhaps one that more couples should consider.
